About the Album

Following Happy and History which were released in 2003 and 2005 respectively, Matthew West’s third album, Something To Say, represented yet another solid step forward for his career as a songwriter and artist. Featuring hit single, “The Motions,” which stayed at #1 for 15 straight weeks, the overwhelming message of the album is a joyful reminder for listeners to live with purpose and let God speak through their lives. Ironically, it was written during a year when West struggled with the loss of his voice due to hemorrhaged blood vessels on his vocal cords. Upon his healthy recovery from surgery over the summer of 2007, West found new meaning in the album title that had been chosen before his diagnosis. In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network following the album’s release in January 2008, Matthew West said of the album, “Last year I might have said the title would have meant something different. But I had to go through this season to truly understand the significance of this title. Not only do we have something to say as God’s creations, but God has something to say to us.”
