About the Album

History,  Matthew West’s much anticipated sophomore studio album, was released in June of 2005, featuring singles “Next Thing You Know” and “Only Grace” as well as its title track “History.” With a theme and title inspired by a Radio & Records  music news headline that stated “Matthew West Makes History” in reference to the release of his first album Happy, the songs that make up the album speak of West’s experience of a love that changes history. The song “Next Thing You Know,” which reached #3 on Billboard’s  Hot Christian Songs chart, tells his own personal story of salvation as a thirteen year old and encourages others to “find your place in a history of grace.” With all eleven songs written or co-written by West, History  has a distinctly personal tone that gives listeners insight into his life changing experience of God’s love.
