About the Album

Released in December of 2003, Matthew West’s debut major label studio album Happy set the standard for the five albums that would follow in the next twelve years. With a pop/rock sound that lifts the spirit and lyrics that remind listeners that God is present, in control, and deeply loving, Happy quickly found its place on Christian radio with singles like “More”, “You Know Where To Find Me”, and “The End.” “More” which spent nine weeks at #1 on the Radio & Records  Christian Adult Contemporary chart in 2004, also has the distinction of having been played in space, as it was chosen by the NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis crew as their wake-up song on July 11, 2011. As a result of its success, Happy was nominated for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year by the Gospel Music Association and won the Dove Award for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year. Since Happy, Matthew West has become one of contemporary Christian music’s most successful songwriters and continues to build on the foundation of a first-rate debut album.
