About the Album

Following the release of The Story of Your Life, fans of Matthew West continued to send in personal stories, prompting him to write a second album based on their lives. Released in the fall of 2012, Into the Light quickly became a “part 2” of sorts, and received just as much praise as its predecessor, earning West an American Music Award for Best Contemporary Inspirational Artist in 2013. Tracks like “Forgiveness” and “Hello, My Name Is”, give this album a more joyful quality as West sings passionately of redemption, grace and victory over shame. The song that truly makes this album stand apart is called “Do Something.” In a call to action, West sings, “If not us, then who? If not me and you, right now, it’s time for us to do something.” In 2014, “Hello, My Name Is” spent 17 weeks at #1, was nominated for GMA Song of the Year, and won Top Christian Song at the Billboard Music Awards, proving that Matthew West’s talent for songwriting is only growing with his career.
