Official Grammy Nomination Press Release

SPARROW RECORDS RECORDING ARTIST MATTHEW WEST PICKS UP TWO GRAMMY® NODS, BRINGING CAREER TOTAL TO FOUR NOMINATIONS

Nashville, Tenn., Dec. 6, 2012 – New York Times-acclaimed singer–songwriter and Sparrow Records recording artist Matthew West earned two GRAMMY® nominations last night, bringing him to a career total of four nominations. This year he welcomes a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album with INTO THE LIGHT, as well as a songwriting nomination for his contribution to Casting Crowns’ song “Jesus, Friend of Sinners.”

With GRAMMY® nominations, a Primetime Emmy® nod, a sold-out arena tour and a Billboard Music Award nomination, 2012 has been quite a year for West. West augmented this already-stellar season with the release of his fifth studio album, INTO THE LIGHT, as it bowed in September to across-the-board praise. The project quickly climbed to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes ® Christian & Gospel Albums chart upon release and to No. 39 on the overall iTunes ® Albums chart.

A multiple ASCAP “Song of the Year” winner, West has had four No. 1 radio hits including 2012’s GRAMMY®-nominated tune, “Strong Enough.” A critic and fan favorite, West is widely heralded for his artistic depth and abilities as a master songsmith. The 55thAnnual GRAMMY® Awards will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 8pm ET/7CT on CBS.
